Another, even BETTER 1920s glossary
The other day I posted a link to the Vixen and Ingenue website, which has a short glossary of 1920s slang. In doing research for my novel, I came across this much more extensive guide to 1920s slang. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was used as the basis for the author's shorter guide.
Looking through the longer guide, I was amazed (again) at how many things we say today that originated in the 1920s. I was amused to realize that the majority of the slang has to do with drinking, crime, or sex. There are about half a dozen different ways to say you're drunk, for instance. I guess we know what their priorities were back then, huh?
If anyone is planning to incorporate period slang into their invitations, feel free to post your ideas for the verbiage in the comments. I (and I'm sure everyone else, too) would love to see what you have in mind!
