Vintage shoes show up in unexpected places!

They're not 1920s, but they are vintage and SO pretty. I found these shoes at my local antique mall, of all places, and I just love them!

Vintage Lucite heels from the 1950s

I believe the shoes are from the 1950s, when Lucite was extremely popular and considered to be very classy. They are mules with "Spring-o-later" soles, which were patented in the mid-50s and designed to keep your shoes from clacking on the floor or slipping off your feet, even with stockings. The toe decorations are plastic fans with iridescent paste stones in them, and the Lucite heels are etched with a vine-like design.

I was lucky in that they just happened to fit me — I couldn't have taken them any smaller, but they do fit! It just goes to show that you never know when you are going to come across a really killer pair of vintage shoes, or that to-die-for vintage dress. Keep your eyes peeled on Craigslist, at garage and estate sales, at antique stores, and on eBay — you never know when vintage clothing will turn up!
