Wigs for easy 1920s hair

I have a post about 1920s hair styles that seems to be pretty popular. However, I'm sure there are a lot of people out there (like me) who aren't very good at styling their hair. If getting your hair professionally done isn't an option, what do you do?

I was really impressed with this selection of 1920s-styled wigs. Obviously, the wigs in neon colors aren't appropriate, but there are quite a few great finger-waved wigs. I also love the Gatsby, Boop, and Mae West wigs!

A 1920s-styled wig might be a good option if you need a 1920s hairstyle, but don't have the funds to have it done or the skill to do it yourself. It might also be good for a 1920s theme party, or if you are attending a costume party as a flapper or a 1920s/1930s character. The wigs are surprisingly affordable, so it's an alternative well worth considering!

I consider My 1920s Wedding to be a pretty high quality site, with lots of good information for anyone planning a Roaring Twenties wedding. I get a lot of comments and emails from genuinely interested and appreciative readers. Spammy or mean-hearted comments detract from the sense of a welcoming blog community, so I always reject them.

My Elise wedding doll

I blogged a long time ago about my idea of putting together wedding dolls as mementos. I've finally finished my 1920s bride doll, and I have pictures to share.

First of all, I had decided to use a Madame Alexander Elise for my wedding doll. I contacted a woman who I saw selling custom-made outfits for Elise and Cissette on eBay, and had her make an Elise-sized replica of my 1920s wedding dress. She even made little T-strap spike heels with a mold she made of an original Elise shoe!

The outfit was finished before the wedding, but with everything else that was going on, I didn't have time to look for an Elise to wear it. I wanted to find a doll with the same general hair style and color as mine. I had almost forgotten about the project when I inadvertently ran across the perfect Elise on eBay back in February.

I got the doll, did a little restoration work to get her ready, and dressed her in the outfit. She now claims one of the best spots in my display cabinet. Here are some pictures of her beautiful custom outfit:

My new T-strap sandals

On a friend's request, I'm posting pictures of my new T-strap sandals. They aren't wedding shoes, but they are very definitely inspired by 1920s and 1930s shoe styles.

They are made by Mudd, and the model is called Avocado:



I can't wait to wear them for the first time!

Sorry I have been neglecting this blog so much as of late. Regardless, it gets lots of visitors &mdash and judging by the emails and comments I receive, a lot of you find the information useful!

I have other posts about my wedding that I've been meaning to make, but right now I wanted to report on something I discovered when I was shoe shopping yesterday: Evidently 1920s- and 1930s-inspired shoes are quite fashionable right now, because I'm seeing a lot of T-strap sandals!
For instance, check out these little gems:



These are called "Felicia," and the maker is Nina. They are very much like a pair of vintage shoes I have from the 1930s, except that they have higher heels and slightly less coverage over the toes. Although technically sandals are a no-no when you're doing a 1920s theme, no one is going to know the difference!

With these styles so fashionable right now, you shouldn't have any problems finding shoes to wear to a 1920s-themed wedding — whether you are the bride or one of the guests!
