The Charleston

For those of who think (like I did) that you'll try to get your guests to dance the Charleston, think again -- unless your guests are fairly athletic, I wouldn't count on it. To illustrate my point, here are a few videos I've found:

This one isn't totally Charleston, but has Charleston steps in it. Check out her cute 20s outfit -- I want that hat!!!

This one is just some kid doing the Charletson at home, but still, you get the idea.

Moral of the story: The Charleston looks like fun, but you don't want any of your guests breaking a leg at your wedding.

I noticed you were in Michigan and you were researching a dance instructor for your wedding - do you by chance have a name of someone you could recommend? I'm doing a 1920's wedding in Michigan and would love to have a dance instructor there!

I'm sorry, I never saw or responded to your comment! No, we didn't end up doing the Charleston at my wedding. I decided that since it was mostly family, and therefore mostly an older crowd, there wasn't really anyone there athletic enough to dance like that.

Hi, actually I'm not in Michigan, I just ran across that great venue with a 1920s history and decided to post about it on my blog! I never did look for a dance instructor, so I wouldn't be able to help you. Sorry!
